Week 6 #PictYourBooks Challenge

I just got a notification on my phone and it said, "FIRST SNOW OF THE SEASON FOR MOST AREAS MONDAY NIGHT. A strong upper level disturbance will bring the first snow of the season to most areas on Monday night."

We've already had a challenge about crazy weather, so I won't ask about that again. But since this is the FIRST real snowfall of the season, let's ask a question about firsts.

Challenge #6: Share a book with a first

How you choose to answer this one is up to you. I'm looking forward to some creative and interesting responses!

You have one week to submit your answer before we move on to week 5. Answers can be submitted three ways. Snap a picture of any book that answers the challenge and:
Please include the week number with your picture. You may also include who the image is from, like a teacher's name, and a description of how the book answers the challenge. Writing information on a sticky note and including it in the picture works great!

Week 5 #PictYourBooks Challenge

First of all, my apologies for not having the week 4 video and the week 5 challenge posted on Monday morning. One of my closest friends, Jason, came to visit this weekend. Jason lives over 1,000 miles away so we don't get to see each other very often. We did a lot over the weekend, and it kept me from getting the new posts finished. Part of our weekend was spent here:

This weekend my favorite football team, the Green Bay Packers, played the Oakland Raiders, and my friend Jason is a Raiders fan. We went to the game together, and each of us cheered for our favorite team. Only one of us left happy. The final score was:

Packers  42     Raiders  24

The game gave me an idea for this week's #PictYourBooks challenge. Since I was happy after the game because my team won, and Jason was disappointed because his team lost, here is this week's challenge:

Challenge #5: Share a book with a great victory OR a disappointing loss.

Week 4 #PictYourBooks Challenge

It's October, and it's snowing. Snowing! Like big, white flakes falling from the sky. Just this past week students were visiting the apple orchard and pumpkin patch and it was 70 degrees. There are still leaves to rake. My goodness, most of the leaves haven't even fallen off the trees yet, and now it's snowing! Did I mention it's only October?

Can you tell I'm not ready for this crazy weather? Last winter we missed seven (or was it eight?) days of school due to snow and freezing cold temperatures. Who knows what this winter holds, but here's the thing: it should not be winter NOW!

This past summer in central Wisconsin we had a storm called a derecho. I'd never even heard of that before! There was a lot of really strong wind. Lots of trees were knocked down, and some people didn't have electricity for over a week. More crazy weather!

So that leads us to this week's challenge:

Challenge #4: Share a book with any kind of crazy weather.

Week 3 #PictYourBooks Challenge

Fall is my favorite season. The colors on the trees are changing. There are apples to pick and pumpkins to carve. I love those beautiful fall days when the sun is out and you can go hiking in the woods and each step can kick up a whoosh! of leaves. Sure, there's some work to be done raking all those leaves, but if you don't rake all the leaves, how can you play in the huge piles? That's another awesome part about fall!

I also love cheering for my favorite teams in the fall, especially the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers.

But enough about what I like about fall. Let's get to the week 3 challenge ... about fall!

Challenge #3: Share a book that takes place in the fall.

You have one week to submit your answer before we move on to week 4. Answers can be submitted three ways. Snap a picture of any book that answers the challenge and:
Please include the week number with your picture. You may also include who the image is from, like a teacher's name, and a description of how the book answers the challenge. Writing information on a sticky note and including it in the picture works great!
