Week 23 PBID Question

Last week's question included the entire alphabet, or as I wrote, "a disaster of alphabetic proportions!" This week's question includes just one small mouse. But there are so many mice in picture books! What book is this guy from, and what is the answer to Week 23 of the #PBIDchallenge?

This mouse has had a busy day. In fact he has just completed a wonderful picture of his family and hung it on the refrigerator. But when he stands back to look at his picture, he is reminded of something.

What is this mouse reminded of when he looks at the refrigerator, and what does he ask for to solve his problem?

Week 22 PBID Question

On to Week 22 of the Picture Book Identification Challenge, and this week features all the letters of the ... OH, NO!!! It's a disaster of alphabetic proportions! My goodness, look at that pile up of letters!

Whew! All of the letters had their parents or an aunt or uncle come to take care of them, and everyone is going to be okay. Despite that dramatic pile up of letters, there are only a few small boo-boos. Speaking of boo-boos, here's the Week 22 question.

What was E's injury?

Week 21 PBID Question

It's hard to believe we have already completed 20 weeks of the Picture Book Identification Challenge. TWENTY WEEKS! I'm looking forward to all the questions coming up in the future! How about you?

Before we get to this week's picture and question, let me take a moment to welcome some new visitors. Last week I was in Milwaukee for the Wisconsin State Reading Association's annual convention, and I introduced the #PBIDchallenge to a bunch of teachers. So to all the teachers and students checking out the #PBIDchallenge for the first time, welcome! Good luck with Week 21! (Even if it is only Week 1 for you.)

Take a look at this picture. See the ladybug? That's one brave ladybug. Or a not-very-smart ladybug. Or a something-something-else ladybug because it challenged the lobster to a fight! Please answer two questions about the following image.

According to the book, what kind of ladybug is this? Also, at what time did the ladybug challenge the lobster to a fight?

Week 20 PBID Question

Last week it was FREEZING cold here in Wisconsin, so our picture was a young girl and her father all bundled up to keep warm on a winter day. This week continues the theme of cold weather, only this girl and her grandmother stayed inside during the cold.

The author of the book that this image comes from has won many awards. She has won a Newbery Honor four times, a Caldecott Honor for the book that this image is from, and is the current National Ambassador for Young People's Literature.

This girl misses Mama, but Grandma says, Your mama's gonna be coming on home soon. Mama moved to Chicago for a job. What is the job Mama says she will be doing while she is gone?
